Nicolae Pirvu is one of those rare panflutists that performs with outstanding technology and an extraordinary sense of rhythm when he plays "Doinas," and Romanian Ballads. Therewith he gained a worldwide reputation. In his panflute performances he is able to express the most incredible emotions such as conjure, cry, laugh, tell stories and cherish, to name a few. His impinging appearance, combined with his remarkable presentation, makes it easy to charm the audience.
As a soloist he has performed in many Romanian orchestras and toured through Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Spain, Africa, Asia, North and South America. Everywhere he had great success. Especially in Holland and Switzerland the interest for the panflute was overwhelming. In Holland Nicolae got great recognition through his many appearances in theaters, restaurants, parties, radio and television-shows. Since 1982 he lives and works in Holland where he has acquired the Dutch citizenship. In 1987 he founded the "Romanian Nicolae Pîrvu Ensemble", which consists of five Romanian musicians (pan flute, violin, cimbalom, accordion and double bass). As a soloist he has performed with many orchestras in Romania and toured through Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Spain, Africa, Asia, North and South America.
The Pirvu Ensemble is very versatile and popular. The repertoire also includes great performances such as the Rapsodia din Carpati with the folkloric dance ensemble Baluta and A musical tour of Balkan countries with the Romanian tenor and taragotist Ioan Micu.
